‘After-Post’ is Owen Brouwer’s inaugural institutional exhibition, a focused exploration of the intricate cultural power of ornament in Amsterdam. Utilising urban psychogeographic methodologies, Brouwer constructs taxonomies and new visual languages to examine the city through its layers of water, postal and civic infrastructures, folklore, and collective memory.

The artworks on display speculate on the histories of Dutch aesthetic language, projecting them into the present through the artist’s rigorous embodied mapping and digital practices. By meticulously documenting the city's overlooked details, Brouwer activates and reinterprets the material history embodied within each artifact. The exhibition ultimately offers a coherent ethnographic study of place, shared narratives, and the democratic public realm. Ultimately, Brouwer reminds us that the city's greatest monuments are not its buildings, but the stories we inscribe upon them.
